Groove Cartel
Groove Cartel
In a world where trends reign supreme and pure, honest dance music is becoming harder and harder to come by, Groove Cartel is emerging as one of the hottest up and coming duos hitting the scene today. Marching to the beat of their own drummer, literally, the group is comprised of drumming phenom Cary White and producer/DJ extraordinaire William Gonzales. Shying away from any specific genre or “here today, gone tomorrow” trends, these guys have found a way to incorporate what they consider to be the best element of electronic music… the GROOVE. Whether it’s fat, heavy, in your face Bass lines or intricate, well thought out arrangements, these two have already started turning heads in just a few short months. The two met back in 2012 while CW was serving up beats for musical heavy weights, Infected Mushroom, whom he played with from ’12 to ’14. In the fall of 2012 during a leg of one of their tours, Cary locked eyes and ears on one of the opening acts that he would later learn to be William Gonzalez, otherwise known as Pyramyth. Utterly blown away, Cary stood beside the stage watching the whole set eager to meet this young talent. That night, with the shake of a hand and a toast, an indelible bond was formed and the two became fast friends. They kept in close contact over the next few years focusing on their individual careers until fate would bring them back together in 2016.

Prior to committing full time to Groove Cartel, Cary White had been a permanent fixture in the Los Angeles music scene for the better part of a decade. Drumming for artists like Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, multi platinum pop band Metro Station, and indie electronic rockers Gunslinger to name a few. In 2013, White decided he was ready to man his own project at which time Drums On Acid was conceived. In less than 3 months of its inception, DOA was named EDC discovery project winner and was playing some of the biggest festivals in N. America including EDC, Bass Camp, and Burning Man. Attempting to push the musical envelope and Pioneering the advancement of live elements in electronic music is something Cary has always been privy to. He was one of the first to incorporate live drums as well as various other instrumentation in order to achieve a more humanistic feel in what can sometimes be a stale, monotone world of push play DJ’s.

With a slew of beatport #1 chart toppers, William still remains a household name in his native Mexico. His unique flavor and unparalleled range of genre bending styles continues to melt minds. Whether it’s Psytrance, Glitchop, Trap, Electro… Heavy fat basslines, or ethereal, enchanting melodies… He’s done it, and often times better than most. His eccentric style and high quality productions have earned him spots opening for some of the biggest names out there today including Knife Party, Steve Aoki, Members of Swedish House Mafia and many others while also headlining his own shows all over Central America and Europe. A classically trained pianist, his ear for melody, rhythm and structure are just some of the reasons why this incredibly young, talented producer has found such a unique voice in a musical world so over saturated with cliché one liner party anthems.

Everything came together the spring of 2016 when the duo decided it only made sense that their two separate musical endeavors merge and become one. The thunderous, groovy onslaught of sound that these two were able to forge independently would be much better be served together. Sending ideas back and forth, these talented up and comers have nothing but starts in their eyes. With numerous releases eminent and a string of bookings already set, 2016 is sure to be a breakout year for this talented duo. With their emphasis on groove, a tasteful blend of all styles, a deep and introspective, yet imaginative take on dance music, It’s no surprise that this duo has garnered such attention in such a short time.
